Our six convenient small animal locations are full-service veterinary hospitals dedicated to providing the finest professional health care available for your pet. We strive to treat your companion with the most up-to-date developments in veterinary medicine blended with compassion and kindness.
Each hospital offers complete veterinary medical and surgical care for all of your pet's needs. This includes preventative measures such as vaccination and parasite control, as well as: surgery, hospitalization, dental care, laboratory analysis, radiology, ultrasound and emergency care.
Large Animal Ambulatory Service
Our large animal ambulatory service provides the most complete professional medical and surgical care for your animal or herd, including horses, cattle, swine, sheep, goats, and camelids. We offer large animal services for all of Northeastern Ohio and Northwestern Pennsylvania with 24-hour emergency care available 7 days a week.
Dr. Bob Baugher grew up on a dairy, hay and grain farm in Southington, Ohio. He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. Dr. Baugher's interests are in large animal veterinary medicine. He and his wife Ragine live on the home farm in Southington and have four children: Hallie, Brendan, Sara, and Emma who all have attended or are attending Ohio State. They also have a dog named Macy and two cats named Punks and Buster. Dr. Bob feels very fortunate to be able to work with the clients and their animals and all the great veterinarians and staff at Countryside. He also enjoys spending time at the farm and with his family.
Dr. Jeff Clayton
Dr. Jeff Clayton is from nearby Willoughby Hills, Ohio. He attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, graduating in 1999. Dr. Clayton received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University in 2005. Dr. Clayton has a special interest in exotic, avian and wildlife medicine. He also enjoys small animal general and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Clayton and his wife, Amy, have a son, Will, daughter, Lillie and 3 dogs. He enjoys fishing, photography, birdwatching, sports, gardening, and shooting.
Dr. Sara Crawford
Dr. Sara Crawford was born in Fairfax, Virginia but spent most of her childhood in Columbus and Youngstown, Ohio. A Buckeye through and through, she completed her undergraduate and veterinary education at The Ohio State University. Dr. Crawford has two cats, Achilles and Hektor, who love to keep life interesting. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and finds particular joy in ophthalmology and internal medicine puzzles. In her free time, Dr. Crawford loves to try new restaurants, see the latest blockbuster movie, and travel as much as possible both in the U.S. and abroad.
Dr. Bryan Elliott
Dr. Bryan Elliott is originally from Dorset, Ohio. He attended the University of Findlay before heading to The Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Elliott earned his veterinary degree in 2006 and has a special interest in large animal medicine, especially Equine medicine and reproduction. Dr. Elliott and his wife, Jamie have one dog and one cat. He enjoys raising beef cattle, hunting and fishing.
Dr. Holly Evans
Dr. Holly Evans grew up in Southington, Ohio. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Kent State University. She then received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in 2006. Dr. Evans enjoys all facets of small animal medicine and surgery and has 2 beagles named Sammy and Daisy. Dr. Evans enjoys gardening, camping, and traveling.
Dr. Rachel Manning
Dr. Rachel Manning grew up in Napoleon, Ohio. She attended the University of Findlay, graduating in 2007. She moved on to Knoxville for veterinary school, and she received her veterinary degree in 2011 from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Manning has a special interest in small animal soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology. She lives with her husband, Morgan, and their small herd of Rottweiler mixes, cats, and a rabbit. She enjoys reading, rollerblading, hiking, and riding her motorcycle.
Dr. Ted Ramsey
Dr. Ted Ramsey is originally from Brookville, Ohio, a small town west of Dayton. He attended The Ohio State University from 1986-1993, graduating with his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1993. Dr. Ramsey enjoys the “James Herriot” variety in veterinary medicine and also has a special interest in soft tissue surgery. Dr. Ramsey and his wife, Lisa, have a daughter Jordan, two dogs and three cats. He enjoys fishing, hunting and camping as well as habitat management for wildlife.
Dr. Michael Slawienski, DACVS
Dr. Slawienski is a native of Buffalo, New York. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Cornell University and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University in 1992. He completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at West Los Angeles Animal Hospital and trained as a resident in veterinary surgeon at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in New York City. He became a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1999. Dr. Mike practiced at Associated Veterinary Specialists in St. Louis before moving to Ohio with his family in 2004. He has provided soft tissue, neurologic and orthopedic specialty surgeries for patients of veterinary hospitals in Northeast Ohio and surrounding areas since that time. Dr. Mike is an avid homebrewer and as a BJCP certified judge has judged beer competitions nationally and abroad. Dr. Mike enjoys spending time with his three young wonderful children and his wife. Dr. Slawienski has a sweet one-eyed pug named Boty and a very mischievous cat named Shadow.
Dr. Debra Williams
Dr. Deb Williams is originally from Arlington, Ohio. She attended The Ohio State University from 1976-1979. She also attended veterinary school at The Ohio State University, graduating in 1983. Dr. Deb enjoys small animal medicine and surgery as well as embryo transfer in cattle. Dr. Deb’s husband is Dr. Jeff Williams. Their daughter, Claire, is a nursing major and their daughter, Chloe, hopes to someday become a veterinarian as well. Dr. Deb has 1 dog, 8 cats, 1 rabbit, 2 ducks, 3 fish and a herd of beef cattle (crossbreds and Belgian Blues). Dr. Deb enjoys spending time with her family and pets. She is a NWS Skywarn Spotter, enjoys vegetable and flower gardening and is the music programmer for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Girard, Ohio.
Dr. Jeffrey Williams
Dr. Jeff Williams grew up in Akron, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Nutrition from The Ohio State University in 1977. He graduated from The Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. Dr. Williams enjoys ophthalmology, theriogenology, nutrition, and alternative homeopathic medicine. He enjoys spending time with his wife of 26 years, Dr. Deb Williams, and their two daughters, Claire and Chloe. Dr. Williams also enjoys sail boating and raising grass fed beef cattle.
Dr. Casey Pawl
Dr. Casey Pawl is originally from Parma Heights, OH. She completed her undergraduate collegiate studies at Chatham College and graduated in 2013 from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Pawl has a special interest in bovine and canine reproduction. She also enjoys large and small animal medicine. She has two dogs, Gracie and Dede. Dr. Pawl's interests include participating in dog shows, swimming, hiking, soccer, and reading.
Dr. Vicky Collen graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997 and completed her undergrad at the University of Findlay. Growing up, Dr. Collen enjoyed riding horses, reading books, and 4-H activities. While trying to care for all the little critters on her family farm, she knew early on she would pursue her passion in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Collen enjoys working with many different kinds of animals as it keeps life interesting. In her spare time she loves spending it with family, riding horses, and camping.
Dr. Jenny Dunlap was born Jenny Hardesty in West Farmington, Ohio. She completed her undergraduate college degree at Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio. In 2008 she graduated from Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Jenny spent the first 4 years of her veterinary career practicing mixed animal medicine with Countryside Veterinary Service but is currently practicing small animal medicine in our Middlefield location. She has special interests in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, but overall enjoys the immense variety of cases that her career has to offer. Dr. Jenny and her husband, Chase, live in West Farmington and have two children; June and Waylon. They also have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses, 1 jersey cow and many chickens. Dr. Jenny enjoys riding horses, working on her family’s hobby farm, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Melissa Mondello graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 2017 and completed her undergrad at Berry College Animal Science. Growing up in Ohio, Dr. Mondello enjoyed reading books, pet-sitting, and riding horses. She has always loved animals, particularly horses, and knew she wanted to devote her life to working with them. She would like to grow her career in learning more about acupuncture and chiropractic medicine. Dr. Mondello enjoys meeting new people and helping pet owners better understand the needs of their pets. In her spare time she likes to exercise, read, cook, and travel.
Dr. Andrew Thiel graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017 and completed his undergrad at Lehigh University. Growing up, Dr. Thiel enjoyed hiking and camping, playing his saxophone and watching Star Wars movies. As an Eagle Scout, he was able to spend a semester in Scotland studying Archaeology and Celtic history. Dr. Thiel has a special interest in biology and likes the opportunity to diagnose and treat patients that cannot speak for themselves. In his spare time, he enjoys trout fishing, riding motorcycles, and cheering on Cleveland Sports Teams while spending time with his cats.
Dr. Jessica Bittner graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 where she also completed her undergrad in Animal Science. Dr. Bittner grew up riding and showing horses and dogs in 4-H. Her time in 4-H and undergrad studies, helped further grow her interest in all animals. She loves that in Veterinary Medicine she is able to have the opportunity to work with so many different species and provide care. She is continually amazed at the resilience in animals and their ability to heal. In her free time, she likes the outdoors biking or indoors reading a good book cuddled up with her cats Izzie and Leo.
Dr. Alexandria Barry graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 and she completed her undergrad in Biology at Thiel College in Greenville Pennsylvania. Growing up, Dr. Barry enjoyed reading and swimming. Very early on, she knew she wanted to be a Veterinarian. At three years old she adopted her first cat and her first dog at the age of four. Her mother reminds her of stories of helping animals all throughout her youth. Dr. Barry likes to take the time to work with pet owners, explaining and teaching along the way. She has a special interest in dermatology and pet behavior. An avid reader, in her spare time she like to read and spend time with her dogs and cats.
Dr. Traci Zagar graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 and her undergrad in Biology at California University of Pennsylvania and received her MBA from Youngstown State University. Growing up, Dr. Zagar loved the outdoors watching birds, gardening, and fishing. Veterinary Medicine has been her passion all throughout her life. She enjoys working alongside others with that same passion for pet care. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family including her cats Elby and Nacho and her husky dog Tundra.
Dr. Scott Bertoldo graduated from Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017 and completed his undergrad at State University of New York at Oneonta. Growing up Dr. Bertoldo enjoyed the outdoors and playing soccer and swimming. Alongside his father who is also a Veterinarian, Dr. Bertoldo enjoyed a childhood with animals and a profession he learned to respect. Dr. Bertoldo learned early on that every animal has a person that provides care for that pet and he enjoys sharing what he has learned with those pet owners. In his spare time, Dr. Bertoldo who grew up swimming competitively, would like to bring swimming back into his life.
